Reports To: Analytical Laboratory Director

Nanoscience Analytical is looking to hire an Analytical Project & Quality Assurance Specialist. This role will entail maintaining the ISO9001 quality management system. This will be an exciting role for an individual who has excellent attention to detail and background in scientific research or analysis. At Nanoscience Analytical we focus on the preparation and analysis of Nanomaterials with a suite of advanced instrumentation. The ideal candidate for this role will be highly motivated with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


  • Support the project work plan and documentation process by relating it to the overall corporate objectives of service, quality, and profitability.
  • Ensure effective Quality Assurance/Quality Control mechanisms are in place and adhered to.
  • Help to maintain the quality management system at Nanoscience Analytical.
  • Maintain technical processes and documentation including, but not limited to: document management of SOPs, CAPA, and employee training records.
  • Complete formal quality control reviews which can be implemented at specific points during a project and serve as a procedural guide for technical staff.
  • Develop appropriate sub-plans such as communications plan, quality assurance plan, resource plan, procurement plan, deployment plan, etc.
  • Generate new techniques, ideas, and solutions that can improve delivery quality, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Identifies lessons learned and shares with organization.
  • Manage the monitoring and controlling aspects of a project including issue/risk identification and resolution, change management, reporting and internal/external communication, financial management, metrics, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination and representation of Nanoscience Analytical for internal and external audits.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of two years of undergraduate coursework in Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering
  • Familiarity working in a laboratory environment
  • Detail oriented with a demonstrated acumen for critical thinking and problem solving
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Typical Physical Demands: (reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions)

  • Work Location: Indoors, heated/air-conditioned office/lab.
  • Work Postures: Position is essentially sedentary; incumbent spends occasional time walking and standing.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting/carrying of boxes and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Equipment: Often uses personal computer, lab equipment, copy machine, and fax machine.
  • Visual Activity: Ability to view computer screens, reading scripts and reports, observing experiments (color recognition, depth perception, close-up reading)
  • Hearing: Position entails moderate amount of phone contact, incoming and outgoing.
  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Typical Mental Demands:

Incumbent may encounter some stress in managing multiple projects or performing multiple tasks.

Typical Working Conditions: 

Positions in the laboratory at Nanoscience Analytical may require working in locations or performing activities that, regardless of best efforts, may be described as potentially dangerous. These working conditions may be in areas of chemical exposure and emitted radiation. Although not typical, the laboratory environments may contain hazardous exposure to fumes, dust, and other toxic substances. It is the responsibility of the employee to understand the hazards, wear proper PPE, and exercise extreme caution while working in such situations.
